Sometimes a shingle roof just isn't the right fit for a home. Low-slope sections especially - they were never really designed for shingles in the first place. Water sits, shingles curl, and before long you're dealing with leaks that patch after patch just can't keep up with.

That's exactly the situation we were working with here. The old shingles were worn down and past their useful life. Rather than slapping on another layer that would face the same problems in a few years, we stripped everything off and started fresh with a proper flat roof system built for this type of structure.

We use a torch-down modified bitumen membrane for jobs like this. It's a heavy-duty material that bonds directly to the surface, giving you a seamless, watertight finish that holds up well against standing water and temperature swings. The edge detail gets tight metal flashing to lock everything in and keep water from sneaking underneath.

The finished surface is clean, flat, and built to last. No more worrying about missing granules or shingles lifting after every storm. This kind of roof replacement isn't just about solving the immediate problem - it's about putting the right system in place for the long haul.

If your roof is aging out or you've got a low-slope section that's been giving you trouble, it's worth having a conversation about whether a flat roof system makes more sense for your home than continuing to patch what's there.
