This Staten Island home needed more than just new shingles. The old roof had run its course, and a simple layer-over wasn't going to cut it. We did a full tear-off - right down to the rafters - so we could assess exactly what we were dealing with before anything new went on.

What we found underneath told the whole story. Once the old shingles and rotted plywood were stripped away, the bare rafter structure was fully exposed. That kind of access lets us catch problems that would otherwise stay hidden for years - soft spots, deteriorated decking, anything that would compromise the new roof from day one. We replaced the plywood decking across the entire surface before laying a single shingle.

From there, we installed fresh asphalt shingles from scratch - clean lines, tight ridgeline work, and consistent layout across the whole roof. New gutters went on at the same time to complete the drainage system. There's no point putting a new roof on and leaving old gutters that can't do their job.

The finished roof ties the whole house together. The contrast between what we started with and what we ended up with is exactly why we don't cut corners on tear-offs. Skipping steps might save a day, but it costs the homeowner down the road. Doing it right from the deck up is the only way we know how to work.
